Have you had a chance to get out onto one of our trails yet? The trails around Robbins Island are perfect for families and those wanting a variety of scenery. The Eagle Lake trail also provides for a great view and a relaxing bike ride around Eagle Lake. Don’t forget the gorgeous ride around Green Lake as well! It’s a great time to get out on our trails and enjoy hiking, biking, in-line skating, mountain biking or horseback riding. As everything starts to turn green and the flowers start to show their colors, the view on the trails becomes spectacular! Also, spring is a great time to go fishing, so bring along your fishing gear on your next trek on the trails!

Peak Fall Color Week You can’t go wrong with fall. And a little magic. As the days shorten yet the weather stays pleasant, pull on a sweatshirt and take a twilight hike in a Minnesota state park or trail. Sibley State Park Trail Report for 10-18-23
Where to go Explore any of the hiking trails or take in the view from Mount Tom to enjoy the beginnings of the fall colors. What you’ll see Recent weather conditions have caused significant leaf loss. There are still some yellow, orange, and the beginnings of red that can be seen across the canopy. It has not been a wonderful year for fall foliage viewing, but some trees have not completely turned or shed their leaves for winter. To see current fall photos of the park, click here.

New colors keep popping up all over our area, while the other parts of the state are at peak fall colors or getting close. Temperatures are cooling again, helping with the color change progression, while rain and wind are making some leaves drop sooner.

(Info from MN DNR website) 🌳🍃 Why do some trees have bright red leaves in the fall, but others will only turn yellow or orange? Good question! 🍂🟠 Yellow, orange, and brown pigments, called carotenoids, are always present in the leaf and become visible as green chlorophyll breaks down.
